Here’s A Thought :: The Clock Is Ticking – A Follow-Up

BA-RiNG!

Time’s up!

Awhile back, you may remember that I put forth a challenge on this blog to make a list of 13 items I hoped to complete before 2013 – with only 56 days left in the year. I posted my list and asked you to take the challenge with me. So … how’d you do?

Here is my updated checklist:

1. Write a marketing plan for the first quarter of 2013

2. Plan our marketing budget for 2013

3. Design, print, assemble and mail out our Elements New Year’s cards and gifts on time

4. Finish and submit my book proposal to my publisher

5. Design, print and package two items for sale in Goods shop

6. Clean and organize my desk! (You will remember this one from last year, and the year before, and the year before that …)

7. Clean out and purge all our old files in the office

8. Take a day off. A real day off. And take a break from all the holiday hustle and bustle to simply relax.

9. Buy a snazzy, new digital camera and start using it (I have my eye on this one …)

10. Start working on our Elements postcards for 2013

11. Finish redesigning our new Elements website and get started on the web development

12. Begin writing an article for a design publication I’ve been asked to write

13. And last, but certainly not least, volunteer and donate to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Not too bad, I think. I’m actually pretty happy with what I’ve been able to get done. I’m still planning on purchasing a camera, I just haven’t had time to do the research and get to B+H in NYC yet, but I will soon and I can’t wait.

Our office filing/organization will require everyone’s help – and there just wasn’t time to devote a team effort to getting that done yet, but we will.

And our new website project is off schedule due to a wonderfully busy December, but certainly not abandoned. Stay tuned, it’s coming!

As for the day off doing completely nothing, I – along with my family – all got a nasty bout of the flu during the week off between Christmas and New Year’s. We had originally planned a family ski trip to Vermont, but we were all too sick to go. So we spent the week lounging around with blankets, tea, books and movies. Unfortunately, I could do nothing but relax with a box of tissues by my side for days feeling terrible. I think that counts.

Well, how did you do? Care to report? I’d love to know. Are you happy with what you were able to accomplish?

Now it’s time to start on a new list for Q1 in 2013. Who wants to go first?

~Amy
